Dark clouds hound me sometimes, but i work it out

I can’t say just how much I love Timmy Reynolds. I remember seeing him solo, live in Columbus Ohio. I felt really bad as his genius was boo’d. Sad, thing was everyone who really didn’t understand his music thought they were going to a Dave Matthews Band Concert. I also was fortunate to see The Dave Matthews Band multiple times in Columbus Ohio. I loved it when he kicked off his tour, and had tickets for two nights. TWO separate play lists. So many things in these lyrics are true for me, in the present, where I sit and ponder. The art I created is a bit dark; unlike the bright and shiny pieces that thrill me to make. I am exploring, searching; and thankfully finding answers. Lyrics from this song will be at the end of the post.
As ever I wish you joy and love. #art #artist #exploring #TimReynolds #DMB

“Dancing Nancies”

“Could I have been
A parking lot attendant
Could I have been
A millionaire in Bel Air
Could I have been
Lost Somewhere in Paris
Could I have been
You’re little brother
Could I have been
Anyone other than me
Could I have been
Anyone other than me
Could I have been
Anyone

He stands touch his hair his shoes untied
Tongue gaping stare
Could I have been a magnet for money?
Could have been anyone other than me?
Twenty three and so tired of life
Such a shame to throw it all away
The images grow darker still
Could I have been anyone other than me?

Then I look up at the sky
My mouth is open wide lick and taste
What’s the use in worrying, what’s the use in hurrying
Turn turn we almost become dizzy

I am who I am who I am well who am I
Requesting some enlightenment
Could I have been anyone other than me
And then I’ll

Sing and dance
I’ll play for you tonight
The thrill of it all
Dark clouds may hang on me sometimes
But I’ll work it out
And then I
Look up at the sky
My mouth is open wide lick and taste
What’s the use in worrying, what’s the use in hurrying
Turn turn we almost become dizzy

Falling out of a world of lies
Could I have been a dancing Nancy a dancing Nancy
Could I have been anyone other than me?”

I am working on substrates that are reuse. I had so much fun poking around today in the studio. I picked out a piece of wood for some magic to happen on.
I was so delighted when I turned it over and found “the door to childhood. It also made me think of my friends. Most of the time I am very child-like when creating.
So much wonderment, and joy!
I have loved this song since discovering Napoleon Dynamite so many years ago. I hope you enjoy the song while pondering the pictures. Want more? Tomorrow is a
peek inside the studio. As ever, I wish you joy, and kindness. #art #abstract #encaustic

These are some older works. I was looking at them and pondering my reality. One work is on paper, the other on canvas. I am not sure if they fit with me any longer. Time will know. The lyrics of this James Taylor song made me think of fire and rain as metaphors, as well as literal. I just wanted to share that. As always, kindness and joy. Spread some around.

Oh for the love of lilacs, and Jeff Buckley. When I was young I had a huge lilac bush outside my window, and the smell that wafted over me took me to other places. I miss that lilac bush. I was reminded of it on a trip to The House of Blues in Cleveland when I turned a corner, and my girls and I all said MMMM in unison. What a beautiful night that was. As always I wish you love and kindness.

From the studio Monday – Shouting out to the Sisters today. Special Shout outs to Susan, Trish, Joan .@Wohali and Francine. Thank you for the friendship, the uplifting, and also inspiring. Sister Awake is the name I gave to the piece in the window. I played the Tea Party for awhile on my ipod, checked out a multi-dimensional work of water color, and pondered where I would go with that. The current body of work exploding out of me is pushing boundaries of materials. I love the armored sculpture belonging to artist and permaculture practitioner Susan Loughry. Susan said she picked it up somewhere after attending what sounded like a wonderful pottery workshop, not to mention blacksmithing! YES! I said blacksmithing. Wishing you love and happiness.sculpt

“You got wings on your fingers”

You know, I really did dance in the window, in a frame for a few minutes. I don’t think anyone saw that #performanceart, nonetheless it was fun. I listened to the song on my ipod:  The Meat Puppets song titled “shine.” I enjoyed it, but had wished I was more surrounded, encapsulated in it. Staging a window fun and has a point! The thinking of this stage was to say I have a fear of a blank planet.  Our plans are to have a Portal to Creative Reuse, as well as space for a Portal for Creative Connections. A mission to reduce waste, and think of art in a different way. Art working was fun. I did work in reference to the last post music. (Collective Soul- The World I know.) Thinking about the state of the world, I worked on deconstruction of a canvas for the tortured canvas concept.  Score today: one new start, one disaster. and one reuse project started as well as the one dance in the window.  And most of all I shined. As always I wish you love and happiness.

“so i walk up on high, and i step to the edge to see my world below.”

Not all of the art I make is with paint. Sometimes I go digital, fun stuff! I created this portal for no specific reason, but it was telling me something, but what? I now know and will be revealing more. I am going to load some of my paintings and continue move into a very sacred and special place. I am thinking today will be productive. This wonderful song by Collective Soul will inspire me today. I am not sure where that will lead. As always, I wish you love and happiness.

“even though my eyes are hazy, and my thoughts they may be narrow”

I am in pure swoon with this song, and thinking of Jeff Buckley. It is tragic he was taken from us so young in a boating accident. I remember seeing his small in size, but oh so big in meaningful content exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So touching it was to see his hand written notes to his father the late, great folk musician Tim Buckley. They had a tumultuous relationship, yet Jeff forgave that.

I love the tweet with the quote by Jeff “In the life of the spirit you are always at the beginning.” Great series is going to be born of this quote.
This also touches on cover songs and my love for them. I seriously am in love with great covers.

for the love of cover, err color

I think I may have mentioned my affinity for songs that are covered well. Today was one of those days that a song just took me over. I didn’t really do anything stellar with art. I did a few under-paintings. But, mostly I just took in some of the things I love. I really love this chair, it is sturdy and built for function; much like myself. I may have given it a hug. The frog likes to hop around and ended up by Susan’s self portrait (more on that later.) Did I mention how much I love this space. It gives me a sense of well being, I so want to pass that on with Susan to others. We all should feel so very welcome where we are. May the sixth street sisterhood make good things happen. As always, love and kindness.

Day 6
Today found me super busy, no big surprise there. I did get to the space, checked up on experiments. I then decided to enjoy some ambient light and take pictures of some treasures.
I painted what I thought to be a solid #abstract. Experiments started today were zero. Counting on that tomorrow.
Here is a music I have seen many times live, you will see Mike Doughty come through in random posts. I am a fan and have seen a great deal of the bands, performers live and will talk about those adventures. Even the time I hacked into a local concert – more about that later. As always love and kindness.
